Yvette VanDerBrink, author of the children's book "My Mom Looks Like a Turtle" will speak at the Wilmot Community Club fundraising dinner set for 6 pm Friday, February 3, 2012. The dinner will be held at the Wilmot Community Center as part of the annual Winter Wonderland Weekend in Wilmot activities February 3rd - 5th.
It was a typical day when Yvette was getting ready for work with her auction company, VanDerBrink Auctions, when she discovered a lump in her right breast. That lump started a whirlwind of doctor appointments, and she was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2007. Faith, determination, humor, and a fabulous support system helped her through surgeries, weeks of chemotherapy and radiation.

Vintage Snowmobile Sought for 3rd Annual Show February 4th
Classic and antique snowmobile enthusiast are being sought to display their vintage snowmobiles during the 3rd annual Vintage Snowmobile Show set for 1 to 3 pm Saturday, February 4th to be held during the Winter Wonderland Weekend in Wilmot, SD.
The show will be held next to the Wilmot Community Center on Main Street in Wilmot. Owners can ride or trailer their vintage snowmobiles to display. Snowmobiles can be running or not. Plans are to take a short snowmobile drive at the end of the show for those who can participate, weather permitting.
This year trophies will be awarded for People's Choice, Best Vintage Restored and Best Vintage Unrestored.

Arts, Crafts, Vendors Show
Artist and crafters from the area are being sought to participate in the 4th annual arts, craft and vendor fair on February 4th during the annual Winter Wonderland Weekend in Wilmot. Participants can sign up for the 9 am to 3 pm event to be held at the Wilmot Community Center on Main Street in conjunction with the February 3rd through 5th event.
Annual Chili Cook-off
Cooks challenged to enter their best chili recipes for February 4th contest
Penny Davis took home the traveling trophy at last year's chili cook-off and will be on hand to defend her title against all challengers at the annual Winter Wonderland Weekend event.
Chili cook-off entries must be delivered to the Wilmot Community Center kitchen door by 5 pm, February 4th for public judging from 5 to 6 pm. Entries are then numbered are they come in. There is no charge to enter the cook-off.
Each 'taster' will receive a chip to be dropped into a cup by the entries voting for their favorite to win the competition. The one receiving the most votes (chips) will receive the traveling trophy for 2012 with full brag'n rights for the year. Second and third place trophy winners will also be presented. Winners will be announced beginning at 6 pm.
The public sampling will continue until 6:30 for everyone to enjoy a chili supper prior the entertaining community variety program at 8 pm.
Whetstone Jamboree
Country music is featured at each Whetstone Jamboree held in Wilmot. This year, the jamborees will be held quarter, the second Saturday of: Jan, April, July & Oct plus December. Cost of admission is $5.00.
